A COMMITMENT TO RESEARCH, INFORMATION AND LIVING MEMORY

APIC – Associazione Pazienti Italiani Colangiocarcinoma is an Italian non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting patients affected by cholangiocarcinoma, while promoting scientific research and accurate medical information on rare cancers, particularly those affecting the bile ducts.

The association’s mission is built on three core pillars: support for patients and their families, funding for research, and the dissemination of scientifically reliable knowledge. In a clinical field that is both complex and often characterised by late diagnosis, APIC works to bridge the information gap, foster dialogue between patients and the medical community, and support high-impact research initiatives.

In recent years, the association has contributed to:

• significantly funding research projects focused on rare cancers, with particular attention to cholangiocarcinoma;
• providing psychological support services for oncology patients and their families or caregivers;
• promoting awareness campaigns and scientific outreach initiatives, encouraging the development and adoption of early diagnostic and screening methods;
• offering tangible financial support through reimbursement schemes for preventive ultrasound examinations for citizens who wish to undergo diagnostic checks.

The connection between DA productions and APIC stems from the personal experience of Denise Adamo, who during her illness found in the association a source of both professional guidance and human support. From this encounter emerged the desire to transform an individual experience into a structured commitment to the wider community of patients.

Within DA productions, the relationship with APIC is overseen by Elisa Adamo, Denise’s sister, who acts as the official liaison between the company and the association. Elisa coordinates institutional communications, monitors shared initiatives and manages donations directed to cancer research in Denise’s memory.

Alongside her, Alice Tacci — a registered nurse and promoter of the commemorative events dedicated to Denise — represents an important point of reference for the ethical and healthcare dimension of the project. Her contribution helps ensure that the company maintains a strong focus on the quality of information, the dignity of the individual and the responsibility towards patients and their families.

Through this collaboration, DA productions seeks to support an approach that combines scientific rigour, accessible information and human support, contributing to greater public awareness of a disease that remains insufficiently known.
